[Yeoncheon / Day Trip] Following Waterfalls and Autumn Scenery: A Day Walking Through Yeoncheon
The unspoiled scenery of Yeoncheon, reminiscent of a primeval forest, cleansed my weary eyes from the city, making the colors of the water and sky appear even clearer. The pillow lava of Auraji and the profound waters of Jaein Falls poured deep into my heart, embracing a sad legend. The brilliance of the golden cosmos at Dapsari Park, the swaying of the cosmos, the transparent yellow hues of cannas and marigolds, the purple of stasta daisies, and the white of buckwheat flowers—all these various flowers were enchantingly beautiful against the backdrop of the blue sky. Did the round, fluffy shape of the Dapsari, just beginning to sprout a reddish glow, resemble the generosity of the people of Yeoncheon? I felt grateful, thinking about how much hardship everyone in Yeoncheon County must have endured to build this magnificent flower palace. Just as this traveler, thanks to you, fully enjoyed the happiness of walking along the flower path, I hope that all the residents of Yeoncheon County will walk a flower path in their lives as well. The next place I visited was the rapids of the Imjin River and Horogomo Fortress, which I attended when I took a history lecture. I was truly glad to visit this place, a name I had heard several times and really wanted to see. Just like Jaein Falls, I had long been interested in the name Homogoru, and I finally solved the mystery of its origin that I had been wanting to learn. I learned that it is an ancient fortress built in the shape of a gourd, and I cannot express how happy I was to finally find the answer to a long-standing riddle. As I walked through its history spanning over 1,400 years—traveling through ancient times to the modern era and the Korean War—I stepped on the fortress walls that shouldered the nation's destiny and quietly listened to the shouts of the Goguryeo soldiers. From a UNESCO Geological Site and historical landmarks to a waterfall steeped in legend and a beautiful flower palace, this trip was both broad and deep. My only regret is that while I have seen Job's Tears growing, there were no places selling them at the tourist site where I really wanted to drink some tea. I thought that there is a need to develop various products using Job's Tears.
