[Hoengseong] Dado (Korean tea ceremony) Experience + Yellow Clay Gudeul Jjimjilbang (traditional underfloor-heated yellow clay room) + 2 Meals + Hanok Stay
I spent a wonderful two days and one night at Yedawon with acquaintances. Since we all love tea, we found the explanations regarding the tea ceremony to be very interesting. Learning about the various health benefits of tea also gave me the opportunity to resolve to practice tea more frequently. The dinner menu consisted of various salads, lotus leaf rice, and tea; the fried purple radish and steamed cabbage were particularly impressive. As there were vegetarians in our group, it was the perfect meal. The next morning was a truly healthy spread featuring dried radish leaf soybean paste soup, various seasoned greens, dried radish strips, pickled perilla leaves, kimchi, and wild greens. Moreover, since we were always accompanied by tea, it was a time when my mind became clear and my body felt light. It was enough to make me think that if I continued living like this, I might even become an immortal. In the Hwangto Gudeulbang (traditional heated clay room), it was wonderful to be able to warm my entire body on the lacquered floor. Since I usually have back problems, I slept with my lower back warmed, and I felt refreshed in the morning. It snowed at dawn, so when I woke up, I was greeted by a beautiful, snow-covered countryside landscape. The owner cleared the snow from early morning to ensure we had no inconveniences. The owner and his wife were truly diligent and wonderful people. It was also wonderful to chat quietly about life with the tea master over our final cup of tea. I felt the preciousness of human connection. Our group consists of middle-aged people in their 50s who share a common ground as Catholics. We attended Mass at the nearby Hoengseong Cathedral and went on a pilgrimage to the Pungsuwon Cathedral. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to embark on a healing journey with like-minded companions. The food at the places recommended for lunch on the first and second days was also incredibly delicious and top-notch. It was a truly wonderful opportunity to feel and learn about a dignified life while receiving such thoughtful consideration. I would like to thank the teacher at Yedawon once again for creating such a wonderful time. I look forward to visiting again next time.
