I visited Gyeongungung Palace at the tail end of autumn to join Ms. Eojinbyeol’s guided tour with friends, a tour I had heard about a few times before. I agreed with Ms. Eojinbyeol’s explanation that we should call it Gyeongungung, as the fact that the palace’s name was changed to Deoksugung during the Korean Empire at the suggestion of Yi Yun-yong, the half-brother of Yi Wan-yong, bothered me; I could feel the poignancy of the Korean Empire in the name 'Gyeongungung.' Although the autumn rain was a startling, unwelcome guest, the dazzlingly beautiful colorful foliage and Ms. Eojinbyeol’s commentary—who strove to explain as much as possible—made for a rich and fulfilling day. Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Eojinbyeol!!
